HPM Member Profile: Frank Ianucilli

For Frank, model building isn’t just a hobby—it’s a lifelong passion.

That passion began over six decades ago, inspired by his older brother’s love for the craft. Since assembling his first model, an AMT 1961 Chevrolet Impala, Frank has built hundreds of intricately detailed cars, primarily in 1/24 and 1/25 scale. He remains captivated by classic car designs, like the sleek lines of that first Impala, which still resonate with him today.

As a proud IPMS/USA and HPM member, Frank has spent the past two years sharing his skills with fellow modelers. His latest build, a Revell 1/24 Jaguar XKE coupe, is just another testament to his dedication to the craft. With over a hundred kits left to build in his stash, and a commitment to working on two models at a time, his workspace is an impressive setup – including a dedicated airbrushing room that lets him bring each creation to life with precision.

Through decades of modeling, Frank has learned a valuable lesson: patience is the key to a great build. He’s always seeking ways to improve his techniques, with military weathering methods next on his list of skills to master. Model building has long been his way to unwind and decompress, helping him balance the demands of his career as a Logistics Delivery Network Designer – where he’s developed innovative home delivery systems across the country.

With a lifetime of craftsmanship behind him and an ever-growing collection of kits ahead, Frank’s passion for modeling remains as strong as ever.
