The creator of the Tamiya twin star logo dies.

Mr. Masao Tamiya, a former advisor to the design office at Tamiya Plastic Model Company, passed away August 19, 2025. The cause of death was not revealed. He is the younger brother of Shunsaku Tamiya, the former chairman of the company, who died in July, and is the creator of the company’s logo, which is characterized by twin stars. He was 87 years old.

Mr. Masao Tamiya was born in Shizuoka City. While a student at Tokyo University of the Arts, he received a request from Shunsaku and created the company’s logo. In addition to training many illustrators who worked on the “box art” of plastic models, he was also involved in the publication of the public relations booklet “Tamiya News”, advertising and event strategy, and contributed to the company’s brand strategy. He left Tamiya in 1998 and devoted himself to the production of graphic art.
